London Olympics Security is Short by £150 Million

The London Evening Standard have reported that the organisers of the London 2012 Olympic Games have been forced to double the number of security guards to protect the games.

This will cost the taxpayer a reported extra fee of £150 million. The paper reports that Locog now need 20,000 guards instead of the original 10,000 that were confirmed.

The scale of this will raise large questions about the performance of senior organisers of Locog and the organising commitee, raising anger in Whitehall.

Security guards are required to protect a varied range of premises, including retail guarding, static guarding, mobile patrols and residential security. It is imperative that the right security is selected, using the right personnel and methods.
